Thread: ITS/ITR BMW E36 325 Championship Series Winner

  1. Default ITS/ITR BMW E36 325 Championship Series Winner

My 1993 E36 325i race car is for sale. It is an absolute blast to race and has a solid history of reliability and strong finishing positions. It is a 6-time Championship Series winner, holds 4 lap records and has finished on the podium 94% of the time within SCCA (ITR and ITS), NASA (GTS2), and BMWCCACR (JP). Originally built by Turner Motorsports, it has been subsequently improved, tuned, prepped, and maintained by Fall-Line Motorsports. Selling price is $15,000. Check out the car's build details, photos, and race videos on my website with the following link:

Well, I thought that too but was trying to be polite...

JP allows cams and intake modifications correct? I remember reading in the BMW magazines back in the heyday of 325s about "IT BMWs" beating up the IT field" in the SCCA and then the same cars "beating up the JP field". Always wondered about that but then I thought to myself I'm sure they re-installed the stock cams and re-tuned for the SCCA race.

JP allows cams, sure, and injector replacement, but they have to run the oe computer. As for intakes, they allow the M-50 manifold swaped onto the M52, air boxes, and that's it. So if the car came with both OBD I or OBD II they can switch to OBD I and custom tune, but if the car only came with OBD II then they're stuck with it. Suspension wise, they're not allowed to use spherical bearings except at sway bar links and shock/strut mounts. Finally, the biggest "advantage" to JP car would be the use of wings that are body width.

John Norris was runing about 1.5 seconds a lap faster than the JP field in his ITR car, he was actually mid pack in the IP field running aginst M3's, and that was only 3-4 years ago.

I think this is the part where I say "winner, winner, chicken dinner".

Christian, who thinks an ITR E36 is a great car... definitely on the list of "like to have's".
